Senior Acquisition Manager

Job Title:  Senior Acquisition Manager

Job Description:

This position will require the application of knowledge and experience in acquisition management and program management philosophy, policies and procedures to Air Force systems, subsystems, and equipment procurement activities, source selection activities, post award project/program management tasks, and acquisition programs throughout their life cycles. It will require employment of integration, communication, coordination, organizational, and planning expertise to technical and acquisition efforts across a broad spectrum of functional disciplines. Plans, organizes, and assists in managing critical aspects of the development, production, and/or deployment of systems, subsystems, and equipment.

Duties include assisting in the coordination and integration of such aspects of systems acquisition as engineering, procurement, financial management, environmental management, configuration, test, manufacturing, and integrated logistics support in order to effectively assist in the implementation of program direction.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be knowledgeable of processes involving configuration control; Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), developmental and operational testing of UASs, or similar vehicles / systems. As well as providing advisory and draft document assistance to the customer through development oversight; production planning and oversight; quality control oversight; ATP planning and delivery planning.

Performs a wide range of program management activities, such as: gathering a variety of program information; conducting analyses; assisting in acquisition strategy planning; assisting in pre-award and post-award document preparation; assisting in milestone planning, tracking, and scheduling; implementing contractor performance status systems; assisting in establishing and maintaining databases; assisting in developing and analyzing key program metrics; assisting in developing and integrating risk management plans and strategies; supporting program briefings; assisting in surveillance of weapon system prime contractor and subcontractor performance; assisting in determining program progress; and effectively communicating recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management.

Required Skills/Education:

Minimum ten (10) years' experience in functional area and possess a Masters degree in a field relevant to functional area; or a relevant Bachelors degree and fourteen (14) years' experience in functional area; or eighteen (18) years in functional area without a degree. At least five (5) years of that experience must have been performed on DoD programs/projects. Typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. May oversee efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
