Operations Research Analyst

Job Title:  Operations Research Analyst

Job Description:

This position will require graduate level knowledge of statistical data analysis, discrete modeling, simulation, optimization, and analytical capability to support the government in developing & implementing standard, performance-management measures and metrics, including the methodology.

The individual in this position will set targets and assess progress, with focus on the AFSC’s Strategic Plan (goals & objectives) or other government directed areas, such as cost-effectiveness and efficiencies.  Additionally:

-Will utilize statistical process control techniques, trending, cyclical and erratic pattern identification, root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Pareto analysis techniques, Fault Tree analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, shift detection techniques and other similar tools.

Use Lagging indicator analysis to measure historical performance, identify/analyze results of actions and/or initiatives and to review against previous predictions.

-Use recognized statistical techniques and tools to accomplish leading indicator analyses for time series. These include predictive forecasting techniques such as basic moving average, exponential smoothing, regression analysis, and Box-Jenkins.

-Apply forecasting techniques and tools to identify confidence levels and margins of error, sensitivity analyses, what-if analyses, hypothesis testing, and modeling and simulation to improve the metrics program forecasting and planning efforts.

Required Skills/Education:

A Master's degree and twelve (12) years' of experience in a field relevant to the functional area.
