Senior Exchange Administrator

Department: Information Technology Division
Office: Hampton/Langley AFB
Location: Hampton, VA

Leads operations and maintenance of enterprise messaging and collaboration services. Responsible for opening, closing, monitoring, tracking and reporting change requests and incident tickets in other agencies' incident ticketing and change requests systems that support USAF enterprise messaging. Manages process, provisions, and troubleshoot enterprise email, unified communications, mobile and collaboration services. This includes the following:

  • Administering, managing, processing, and provisioning email (currently MS Exchange), unified communications (currently MS Lync and Office Communications Service) and collaboration services (currently SharePoint), in hosted environments. 
  • Managing and operating email routing devices and services; managing, processing, and provisioning supported commercial mobile devices; maintaining email distribution lists and conduct account management; managing roles and services, user permissions, e-mail queues, mobile messaging, and dynamic distribution groups -managing and provisioning client software. 
  • Maintaining attachment, domain and email address block lists and managing domain white-lists and queues; troubleshooting issues w/ email, unified communications and collaboration services ; coordinating restoration of email services; resolving emergency incidents (e.g., restoring deleted messages and mailboxes). 
  • Remotely wiping handheld device software and data. 
  • Documenting incident resolutions and providing updates. 
  • Coordinate and perform and/or work with other work centers or external agencies to manage and support enterprise messaging. 

Some tasks include: 

  • Disabling agency IP traffic on ports and/or require all traffic over SSL/TLS session supporting FIPS 140-2 encryption as directed or required by agency policy. 
  • Defining and implementing filtering in order to strip unwanted/prohibited types of attachments, types of email, or embedded code. 
  • Opening, closing, monitoring, tracking and reporting change requests and incident tickets in other agencies' incident ticketing and change requests systems that support USAF enterprise messaging. 
  • Designating alias addresses for end-user mailboxes. 
  • Supporting issues related to group mailboxes and distribution lists to include designating an end-user(s) as the group mailbox owner. 
  • Administering end-user account provisioning, de-provisioning and access privileges through a web browser interface and end-user access through the use of username and password if an administrator determines that the end user cannot utilize the agency's multi-factor identification. 
  • Performing local or remote administrative duties supporting USAF enterprise messaging using Office eDiscovery services. 
  • Managing dormant or inactive user account(s).

Tracks the implementation of NOTAMS, TCNOs, TCTOs, and NTOs. Provides support often times on a shift work basis.

Minimum Requirements:
•8 Years’ Experience as Exchange Administrator and/or similar IT role
•Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field
•DoD 8570.01 - Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification or higher (i.e. Security+ certification)
MCSA Server 2012

Must obtain MCSA Server 2012, or greater, by 19 April 2019.
