Job Description:

The engineer will provide technical support for customers of the AF Capabilities Integration Environment (CIE). The CIE provides Development and Testing environments for Program Management Offices (PMOs) in support of their application development and deployment engineering process. This individual will be a member of the CIE Infrastructure team and support actions including but not limited to: system administration, installing and configuring COTS applications, installation of various computing and networking hardware components, server maintenance, and virtualization. The individual should be an experienced professional, capable of handling a significant role in managing the development and maintenance of OS environments to include Unix and RHEL in a highly virtualized environment.

Specific job duties include:

  • Develop and design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices
  • Perform (advanced level) configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Unix, and Linux environments
  • System Administration
  • User Account Management
  • COTS product installation and support
  • Server installation, maintenance, and patching
  • Providing guidance to junior engineers and engineers new to the CIE
  • Documenting relevant information for support
  • Occasional after-hours support
  • End-to-end integration for end user computing systems.
  • Plan, engineer and implement robust and cost-effective computing environments, exploiting emerging      technologies to provide compelling solutions.
  • Design, build, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot virtualized environments for desktops and servers. Storage virtualization a plus.
  • Provide secure virtual infrastructure system – identify, document, and prioritize new      tools/procedures needed to run and manage the environment.
  • Identifies key performance and build criteria.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have Active Secret Security Clearance
  • CompTIA Sec+ce certification
  • 4+ years of Unix/Linux system administration experience
  •  Minimum of 4 years VMWare experience
  •  Must possess VMware 5 certification
  •  3+ years of RedHat Enterprise Linux systems administration to include bare-metal installation and Kickstart installation
  • Senior Level or Equivalent professional experience
  • Experience working with VM virtualized environments
  • Strong analytical and/or troubleshooting skills

Desired Qualifications:

  •  Virtualization experience with Oracle SPARC (containers/LDOMs/PDOMs) and x86 (VMware ESX virtual machines)
  •  2+ years of Solaris systems administration to include bare-metal installation and jumpstart installation
  •  ZFS experience
  •  Experience with VMware Administration
  •  Experience Managing Virtual Center
  •  Experience Managing VMware containers, resource pools and Virtual Machines (VMs)
  •  Managing High Availability solutions
  •  Tracking VM Resources (CPU, Memory, Disk)
  •  Maintain VMware ESX Servers
  •  Experience Deploying new ESX hosts and ESX patch management
  •  Experience with VMware view pool management
  •  Experience with large multi-tenant datacenters and inherent issues
  • Experience      writing/maintaining build scripts and creating automated builds and      deployment
