Job Summary

Performs network security engineering, configuration, and management activities associated with the Executive Airlift Communications Network. Designs security policies based upon applicable Air Force, DoD and Federal directives and accepted practices. Implements the security policies on servers, workstations, and network devices ensuring compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other applicable guidelines. Well versed in the DISA Vulnerability Management System (VMS) and USAF web-based AFNetOps Compliance Tracker (ACT) website for reporting and tracking of Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNOs). Well versed in NIST, FISMA, DIACAP and several other laws, regulations, and standards. Maintains network accreditation documentation within eMASS for final accreditation decisions. Implements information security controls. Able to lead information security initiatives and provide feedback in a timely manner. Provides engineering expertise to solve network security problems at operational sites. Maintains network security configuration management documentation. Work with CIP compliance controls to ensure the network is up to NERC standards as well as Air Force standards. Author technical Test Plans, Test Reports, White Papers, and PowerPoint slides as requested by the client. Performs network patch instillations and WSUS updates weekly to ensure all network equipment and client workstations are compliant with TCNOs. Hands on work with WSUS, RDP, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012, Windows and Windows 8, Windows Active Directory, CommVault, VMWare, vSphere, and ESX technologies. Under general direction, responsible for all activities relating to information assurance procedures and systems. Develops information systems assurance programs and control guidelines. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures and resolving technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consults with and advises other sections regarding internal controls and security procedures. Prepares activity and progress reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-7 Years’ Experience as Information Assurance Specialist
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • BS/BA Degree in IT or related field
  • DoD 8570.01 - Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (i.e. Security+ certification)

Preferred Experience:

  • Well versed in NIST, FISMA, DIACAP
  • Experience developing information systems assurance programs and control guidelines
  • Experience writing technical Test Plans, Test Reports, White Papers, and PowerPoint
  • Manage the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) program
  • Monitor and update the DISA web-based VMS or CMRS and USAF web-based ACT tool
  • Perform periodic network vulnerability scans with approved AF tool (ACAS)
  • Manage and monitor the Intrusion Detection/Prevention System, Syslog, Firewall, HBSS, to include customizing searches, maintaining historical log files, and reporting malicious activities
  • Windows Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012
  • CommVault, VMWare, vSphere, ESX technologies
