Job Title: System Administrator II (Endpoint Security Solutions)

Job Description: Information Networks are critical to modern warfare. This position plays a critical role in our nation’s defense through the operation, management and defense of the Air Force portion of the Department of Defense Information Network. You will be a key player on our team, helping the Air Force attain the following desired effects in its management of the DoD Information Network (DoDIN):

  • Assured System and Network Availability that ensures uninterrupted availability and protection of system and network resources. This includes providing for graceful degradation, self-healing, fail-over, diversity and elimination of critical failure points.
  • Assured Information Protection of information in storage, at rest, while it is passing over networks, including from the time it is stored and catalogued until it is distributed to users, operators, and decision makers.
  • Assured Information Delivery of information to users, operators, and decision makers in a timely manner.

In this role, you will maintain Endpoint Security Services that are crucial to the security of the Air Force’s portion of the DoDIN. This is expected to include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following activities:

  • Manage suites of security products such as: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), Trellix Agent, Trellix Application and Change Control (Application Whitelisting), ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Endpoint Security (ENS) which includes Threat Prevention and Firewall, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Policy Auditor (PA), and Rogue System Detection (RSD).
  • Deploy, configure, document, monitor, maintain, upgrade, harden, and analyze data generated by the McAfee/Trellix ePO console (automated server tasks, trend analysis) and troubleshoot product issues, outages on systems, or errors/latency traced to ESS suite across live enclaves.
  • Provide network admins and security personnel with mechanisms to prevent, detect, track, report, and remediate malicious computerrelated activities and incidents across DoD networks and information systems adhering to ESS working groups and community of practices.
  • Record configurations, conduct assessments, specify proper types of files organization, indexing methods, security procedures and submit suggestions to ESS schedule(s), agents, scan zones, and endpoint repository management.
  • Notify appropriate Information Technical Equipment Custodian (ITEC) or Property Custodian (PC), in writing, within 4 hours for all accountable item moves.
  • Neatly bundle and conceal all excess system or peripheral cabling after each installation or repair.
  • Other System Administrator duties, as assigned.

Required Skills/Education:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Certification Requirements: DoDD 8140 IAT-II; ESS 201 Administrator and ESS 301 Advanced Administrator.

  • Preferred: ESS 501 Analyst

Experience: 3+ years of professional experience with Endpoint Security Solutions to include Trellix Application and Change Control (Application Whitelisting).

Travel: Yes (less than 10%)

Security Clearance Required: Secret
